Facial Cryotherapy

The Benefits of Adding “Cryo” to your Facial

Cryotherapy at the end of your facial is one of the greatest parts of the Micropeel, and leaves the skin fresh and glowing.

This advanced technology allows us to create a dry ice snowball using CO2. The icy snowball is run all over your face and neck at the end of your treatment for a cooling, calming and antibacterial effect. Using cryo is also a great way to stimulate collagen production.

Using cryo in our facials is a science that Dr. Gwyn adopted many years ago. We have spent a long time with this unique science, and understand the nuances of using CO2 to enhance your treatment. It truly is an experience unlike anything else.

Know that when you are receiving a facial with a cryotherapy component, it IS a clinical procedure, and should be done in a medically controlled environment. We are proud to say that our providers are skilled with years of experience, which means your Micropeel with cryo will be nothing but amazing.

Myth Busting!

We hear it all! Below are some of the most common myths we love to bust, and we're barely scratching the surface.

MYTH #1:

"Dermaplaning makes my hair grow back longer, darker, or more coarse.'"

FACT:

Make no mistake, your hair WILL grow back, and it may even feel (not look) stubbly. But, this is simply because of the way it was cut straight across. It will appear exactly as it was before, even while going through the growing process.

MYTH #2:

"I am in my house all day/the sun is behind the clouds, I don’t need sunscreen!"

FACT:

There are still plenty of minutes of the day where exposure to the sun happens. Some examples would be sitting by a window, driving around town, taking the dog on a walk, walking to the mailbox, etc. In fact, when it is cloudy outside, the sun's rays still penetrate through the clouds and can possibly be more intense due to the reflection off the clouds. And did you know that fluorescent light bulbs can cause skin damage? We think you're better safe than sorry!

MYTH #3:

"There is sunscreen in my moisturizer/makeup, I don’t need to buy SPF."

FACT:

The concentration of SPF is so low when mixed in to moisturizers and makeup, that you would need 10+ layers of it in order for it to be as effective as an SPF. I am sure you can imagine what 10 layers of makeup would feel like. Don't rely on that as your only protection from the sun's rays!

How Much Botox Do I Need?

We all differ in the amount of Botox we need depending on our facial muscles and how we move them; however, there are some general ranges that you can use when trying to figure out how many units you may need when planning your “Botox Budget.”  These amounts are not set in stone but the following will give you a general idea:

Glabella (vertical lines between the brows): 20-30 units

Forehead (horizontal worry lines):   6-12 units

Brow lift:  8-16 units

Crow’s Feet:  12-16 units

Nose lines:  4-8 units

Lips: 4 units

The most precise and clearest way to understand pricing of Botox is “per unit,” although some injectors price it per “cc.”  If the latter is quoted to you, make sure you ask how many units are in a “cc” as the concentration of Botox  can differ between offices.
